The widget adds the AI label to images you have marked: with the attribute data-ai-label, a file name containing --ai, or alt text ending in “(AI-generated)”. It shows the EU “AI” icon with text in the top right and an explanation on click.

Mark images
| Way | Example | For whom |
|---|---|---|
| Attribute | <img src="vase.jpg" data-ai-label="generated"> | Anyone who can edit HTML |
| File name | vase--ai.jpg or vase--ai-mod.jpg | Any system, no code: rename the file before uploading |
| Alt text | “Vase on a wooden table (AI-generated)” | Accessible, no code, recognised in 24 languages |
The second layer uses data-ai-parts="background,person" and data-ai-unchanged="product". The disclosure text generator creates the right values.
What the widget does and does not do
- It labels only what you mark. Whether an image needs a label is answered by the labelling check.
- It appears wherever the marked image is shown on your site, including lists loaded later. Images under 48 pixels get no label.
- It does not run in order emails and usually not in checkout. That needs an integration into the system, like the Shopify app.
- The script loads from ai-label.app, so our host sees the IP address, as with any request. It sets no cookies. Only for languages other than German and English does it also load a small text file with the label text, likewise from ai-label.app. Mention it in your privacy policy.
Frequently asked questions
Does the widget work with Shopware, WooCommerce or Wix?
Yes, anywhere you can add a script.
Is the label accessible?
Yes. It is a button with an accessible name and can be operated by keyboard. The explanation opens with Enter or click and closes with Esc.
