On Wix, add the widget as Custom Code in your site settings, on all pages, in the head. According to Wix, the site must be published and connected to a domain.
Mark images through their alt text, for example “Vase on a wooden table (AI-generated)”. Not through the HTML element in the editor: it is an iframe and cannot see the images on your page.
Add the script tag
<script src="https://www.ai-label.app/widget.js" defer></script>
- In your site's dashboard, go to Settings and, under Development & integrations, open Custom Code.
- Click + Add Custom Code, paste the script tag and give it a name such as “AI label”.
- Under the pages option, choose All pages and load the code on each page a visitor opens.
- Place the code in the Head and click Apply.
According to Wix, custom code only works on a published site with a connected domain. Check the label on the live site, not in the editor preview.
Do not use the HTML element: the “HTML” and “URL” elements in the editor are iframes. A script inside runs in its own frame and cannot reach the images on your page.
Mark images
The widget only labels images you have marked. Whether an image needs a label is your call, for example with the labelling check. Three ways, which can be combined:
- Attribute on the image:
data-ai-label="generated"for images created entirely with AI,data-ai-label="modified"for photos changed with AI. - File name with a marker before the extension:
vase--ai.jpgorvase--ai-mod.jpg. - Alt text ending in “(AI-generated)” or “(AI-modified)”. The addition also helps screen readers.
The simplest way on Wix is alt text. In the editor's image settings you enter alternative text for search engines and screen readers. Add “(AI-generated)” or “(AI-modified)” to it. Product images in Wix Stores are added in the product's media; check there where you can maintain their alt text.
The file name is unreliable on Wix, because Wix serves media under its own addresses. Whether --ai survives shows in the page source of the live site. The data-ai-label attribute cannot be set in the standard editor.
Pitfalls
- Preview instead of live site: custom code runs on the published site. If you only check the preview, you see no label.
- Selected pages only: if you added the code only to specific pages, new pages lack the label. “All pages” includes pages created later.
- Galleries: galleries load images while scrolling. The widget detects images added later, but check once anyway.
- Alt text per image: the same image in two places often has two alt texts. Add the suffix everywhere.
Limits of the widget
- The widget only reaches images as
<img>on pages where the script runs. Background images from the stylesheet and images under 48 pixels (adjustable withdata-min) get no label. - Cart, checkout and automatic Wix emails: check yourself where the label appears. It does not appear in emails.
- It cannot reach order confirmation emails. Where you show an image outside your website, use a copy with the label burned in from Label an AI image.
- Privacy: the script loads from ai-label.app, so our host sees the IP address as with any request. It sets no cookies. Mention it in your privacy policy.
Native app
A dedicated Wix app is planned. There is no date yet. Until then, the widget works without installing anything in the system. If you like, we will write to you once at launch.
Get notified when the Wix app launches
A short email is enough. We will write once at launch, nothing else.
