ai-label.app belongs to MMR Labs GmbH from Vöhringen, Germany, which also runs garantielabel.app. Besides guides, it offers free in-browser tools and a Shopify app.
Statements on obligations, design, deadlines and fines rest on primary sources; every page shows its last-updated date and its sources.
Who is behind it
The operator is MMR Labs GmbH, Carl-Benz-Straße 6, 89269 Vöhringen, Germany. It also runs garantielabel.app, a website with tools and a Shopify app around the EU's legal guarantee label and GARAN label. The two are technically separate, with no shared server and no shared code at runtime.
ai-label.app is not an offer of the European Commission or of any authority.
How we work
- Primary sources. Our basis is the AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) as amended by the Digital Omnibus (Regulation (EU) 2026/1744), the Commission's guidelines on Article 50, C(2026) 5054, the Code of Practice of 10 June 2026, the Commission's page on the EU icons and the German KI-MIG act. The full list is under Sources.
- Quality of evidence. We distinguish primary sources (law, Commission, authorities, standards), secondary sources (articles, associations) and statements that cannot be verified. Where something rests on a secondary source only, the page says so.
- Last-updated date. The top of each page shows when its content was last checked. Changed statements are recorded in the changelog, also available as a feed.
- Labelling check and app. The free labelling check uses the same decision tree as the Shopify app (version tree.v1), and automated tests check it against the same cases as the app. Every result cites its paragraph in the guidelines; where there is doubt, the result is at least “recommended”.
- The retailer decides. Our tools and the app make suggestions; whether an image is labelled is the retailer's decision. We do not assess individual cases and do not give legal advice.
- Metadata stays. Our tools never remove AI provenance data (C2PA, IPTC) and offer no function to do so.
What is free
The tools for single images run in your browser and are therefore free for good: add a label, check and write metadata, the labelling check, disclosure texts, templates and the widget. For labelling, your first 3 images need no sign-in; after that you need a free account.
Planned are batch processing, an API and a stored record of each decision with a free account, and later credits. Today, only the Shopify app is paid, and it has a free plan too.
Our relationship to the Code of Practice
The Shopify app and the widget follow the design rules of the EU Code of Practice: “AI” as the main element, visible without interaction, on its own background. MMR Labs GmbH has not signed the Code, and the Commission has not reviewed the app.
We reproduce the EU icons, which the Commission makes freely available, unchanged. Using them does not mean signing the Code of Practice.
No tracking
This website does not count visitors, sets cookies only for signing in and loads nothing from third-party servers. Images you open in the tools never leave your device. Details are in the privacy policy.
