AI-LabelAI images, EU AI Act

Terms of use

For the free tools and the widget for labelling AI-generated images under Article 50 of the EU AI Act. Translation for your convenience; the German version is authoritative: Nutzungsbedingungen.

1. Scope

These terms apply to the use of the free tools on ai-label.app (for example adding a label, checking and writing metadata, the labelling check, disclosure texts, templates) and of the widget widget.js. The provider is MMR Labs GmbH, Carl-Benz-Straße 6, 89269 Vöhringen, Germany (“we”). The Shopify app has its own terms, linked in the Shopify App Store.

2. Service

The tools and the widget are free. For labelling, the first 3 images per internet connection in 30 days need no sign-in; further images require a free account. The tools run in your browser; images you open there are not sent to us. There is no entitlement to any particular availability or feature set. We may change, develop or discontinue the tools and the widget.

ai-label.app currently offers no paid services. If any are added (for example batch processing, an API or a stored record with an account, which are planned), separate terms will apply, which you accept beforehand.

The tools are technical aids. They explain the law based on the European Commission's guidelines and make suggestions; they do not decide. We do not assess your individual case and do not provide legal advice.

Whether and how you label an image is your decision and your responsibility. This includes the accuracy of your answers in the labelling check, the marking of your images and the design of your website and your other channels. A label does not make a misleading image lawful and does not replace the consent of people shown in it.

4. Widget

You may embed the widget on your own websites and on websites of your clients. It only labels images that the website operator has marked. The operator of the website is responsible for embedding it and for marking images.

Websites, themes and store systems are built very differently. We give no warranty that the label displays correctly in every theme, every view (such as thumbnails, galleries, zoom, sliders) and every browser. Check the display after embedding and after every change to your theme or layout. Areas where the widget does not run (for example checkout pages of some systems, emails, product feeds, marketplaces) need to be labelled by you.

5. EU icons

The European Commission makes the EU icons freely available. The tools and the widget reproduce them unchanged. Using them does not mean signing the Code of Practice or endorsement by the Commission. Please do not modify the icons.

6. Results and content

Whatever you create with the tools (labelled images, texts, metadata) belongs to you. Texts and datasets of ai-label.app are licensed under CC BY 4.0; the terms are on Data and API.

7. Fair use

Please do not use the tools, the widget or the datasets in a way that impairs operation, for example through automated mass requests. We may limit or block such access.

8. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health and under the German Product Liability Act. Otherwise, liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law. We do not cover fines, contractual penalties or costs of warning letters that you incur because of how your content is labelled or presented.

9. Changes to these terms

The version shown on this page at the time of use applies. Changes are recorded in the changelog.

10. Final provisions

German law applies. If you are a consumer, this choice of law applies only insofar as it does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the country in which you have your habitual residence. If you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, the place of jurisdiction is the provider's registered office.
