The app adds the AI label required by Article 50(4) of the AI Act to product pages, product cards, banners and blog posts, on every plan. For each image you choose the type, or check with the questions from the European Commission's guidelines whether a label is needed, with a citation.
Free for up to 10 images; paid plans from $6.99 per month with a 14-day trial.

In the Shopify App Store the app is called “AI-Generated Image Labels”.
Availability
The app is coming soon to the Shopify App Store.
What the app looks like
A recreation of the app interface. The product photos in the examples are AI-generated.
Features
Quick labelling
Choose AI-generated or AI-modified and set the label, for many images at once if you like. You can remove it at any time.
Check whether a label is needed
Whether a label is needed is answered by the questions from the European Commission's guidelines, per image and with a citation. Where there is doubt, the result is at least “recommended”. You make the decision. The same decision tree is free in the labelling check.
Labels across the store, on every plan
Product pages, product cards in collections and search, banners and the blog, on the free plan too. The first exposure is often the product card (guidelines para. 143).
Appearance that fits your store
- EU icon or text label, following the design rules of the Code of Practice: “AI” as the main element, visible without a click.
- Three styles: no background, with background or glass. The app picks black or white per image from the contrast.
- Choose a corner or drag the label to the spot you want for each image. If a theme element such as the wishlist heart sits there, the label moves out of its way.
- Adjustable size, live contrast check against WCAG (AA and AAA), preview as a product card on desktop and mobile.
- Exceptions for single images.
- In German-language stores, the text “KI-generiert” or “Mit KI verändert” appears next to “AI”.
Second layer, accessible
A click or tap on the label shows whether the image was generated or modified with AI and what was changed, for example the background or a person. The label has an accessible name, works with the keyboard and closes with Esc. On phones, the explanation opens as a sheet from the bottom.
Desktop and mobile images
Many themes show a different image on phones than on desktop, for example in a banner. The app detects these image pairs and shows when only one of them is labelled.
Texts in 24 languages
Label and explanation appear in the store's language, in all 24 official EU languages.
Reads metadata, never removes it
The app reads existing AI provenance data (C2PA, IPTC), shows it as evidence and never removes it. Whether a label is set is your decision. More under metadata.
IPTC field for Google
For Google Merchant Center, the app can write the IPTC field (DigitalSourceType) into the image file and checks what is actually delivered. If an image carries a valid C2PA manifest, the app does not write to the file, because that would invalidate the manifest.
Download a copy with the label
The overlay only works in your own store. For feeds, marketplaces and social networks, the app downloads a copy of each image with the label burned in; the file in your store stays unchanged. Images with a C2PA manifest are not burned in.
Checkout and thank-you page
Items with an AI image get a line such as “AI-generated image”: on the thank-you page in every store, and in checkout only on Shopify Plus, because Shopify only allows extensions there on Plus. The line can be switched off.
A record of every decision
For each image the app records what was decided, when, and on which paragraph. Entries are chained with checksums and can be exported as CSV and PDF, for example for a request from the authority.
Plans
Every plan includes every feature; plans differ only in the number of labelled images. Paid plans come with a 14-day trial.
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Labelled images |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | free | up to 10 |
| Standard | $6.99 per month | $69 per year | up to 100 |
| Advanced | $14.99 per month | $149 per year | up to 500 |
What the app does not do
- It never adds a label automatically and never removes one without your decision.
- It does not create or change image content with AI.
- It does not remove metadata.
- It cannot reach order emails: Shopify offers apps no interface for them. A burned-in label is part of the image file.
- Outside your store you label yourself, for example with the burned-in copy.
Relationship to the Code of Practice
The app follows the EU Code of Practice. The provider has not signed the Code, and the app has not been reviewed by the Commission. The app shows the EU icons unchanged; using them does not mean signing the Code.
Not legal advice. The app asks the questions from the guidelines, adds the label as you decide and records your decision. A label does not make a misleading image lawful.
Other store systems
For Shopware, WooCommerce, Wix and other systems there is the free widget; dedicated apps are planned. Guides per system under Integrations.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the app cost?
Free costs nothing and covers up to 10 labelled images. Standard costs $6.99 per month or $69 per year for up to 100 images, Advanced $14.99 per month or $149 per year for up to 500 images. Paid plans come with a 14-day trial.
Is the label limited on the free plan?
No. All plans have the same features; they differ only in the number of images.
Does the app detect AI images by itself?
The app reads existing AI provenance data such as C2PA and IPTC and shows it as a hint. It never adds a label automatically. Missing metadata proves nothing: until 2 December 2026, older AI tools may still output images without machine-readable marking (Article 111(4) AI Act).
Does the app replace legal advice?
No. It asks the questions from the Commission's guidelines and cites the paragraphs, but does not assess your individual case legally.
What about Google Shopping and marketplaces?
The overlay appears only in your own store. For Google Merchant Center, the app can write the IPTC field into the image file; for feeds and marketplaces it burns the label into a copy. More under Google Merchant Center.
Will the label work with my theme?
Themes are built differently. The app moves out of the way of elements such as the wishlist heart. Check the display after installing and after every theme change, including product cards and mobile.
